—Dan and the other Battle Brawlers ready to go to Vestroia.

Masquerade Unmasked is the 39th episode of Bakugan Battle Brawlers. It aired on July 24, 2008 in English.

Plot[]

Masquerade battles Dan Kuso though he ends up losing. After the battle is over, Masquerade takes off his mask, and the Brawlers find out he is Alice. Suddenly, Hal-G appears (as a holographic projection) and explains how he and Alice, became their alter-egos after being exposed to the negative energy from the Silent Core once Naga tried getting it. After finding out that she is Masquerade, Alice feels guilty for everything she has done and so she goes with Hal-G and they disappear together. (In the Japanese version, Alice goes by herself as she says "Goodbye, grandfather." unlike her dub speech "Alright grandfather, I'm ready.")

Meanwhile, strange environmental events are happening all over the world, including a giant dimensional rift to Vestroia, which suddenly appeared in the Pacific Ocean! The Brawlers prepare to enter the portal in order to stop Naga from destroying both worlds. What awaits them there...?

Major events[]

  • Hal-G reveals that he and Masquerade are both the product of the Silent Core.
  • Alice abandons the Battle Brawlers.
  • A dimensional rift opens to Vestroia, so the Brawlers (minus Alice) decide to travel there.
  • Naga emerges from the Silent Core and evolves into Silent Naga.

Trivia[]

  • In the preview for this episode, Dan refers to the Mega Dimension Nova as the Mega Dimension Pyrus; Nova is Pyrus' Japanese name, even though it did not mean Pyrus in this context.
  • Many fans have found Masquerade being Alice a mindblowing plot twist.
  • This is the only Bakugan episode not to feature a Battle at all.
  • Several flashbacks showing either Masquerade removing his mask or Alice putting it on are shown in Fight or Flight, Evolution Revolution, and Behind the Mask of Masquerade.
