Mason Brown (Japanese Version: Bruce Brown (ブルース・ブラウン, Burusu Buraun?)) is a Subterra brawler from Gundalia and part of the Gundalian Agents in Bakugan: Gundalian Invaders. His Guardian Bakugan is Subterra Avior and uses Lashor as his Bakugan Battle Gear. Originally loyal to Emperor Barodius he was part of Ren's team to infiltrate Bakugan Interspace.

Personality[]

Mason is a rather big showoff who holds no loyalty towards Barodius, and is instead loyal to the Gundalian Elder Nurzak. He escapes the fate met by Lena Isis, Jesse Glenn, and Zenet Surrow by escaping Kazarina's ship before he could be caught with failure. Though he is a Gundalian, he has a respect for Fabia Sheen and was amazed by Aranaut and Lumagrowl's level 2 Battle Gear abilities.

He seems to be the most calm person of the team when it come to a battle, but when it comes to anything else he freaks out and blames Avior. He also calls his partner "old timer" or "old dog" in many of the episodes.

He is shown to be friends with his teammates Ren Krawler and Jesse Glenn, and does not hold a grudge against Jake Vallory despite his defeat. Even when he ends up facing Jake again in Neathia alongside Airzel, he does not look to win against Jake specially, but rather to make sure he doesn't get punished. However, he and Avior don't seem to get along and constantly argue with each other; Avior thinks Mason is a smart aleck, while Mason finds Avior is a nag.

Bakugan: Gundalian Invaders[]

Mason made his debut in a picture alongside Zenet Surrow and Jesse Glenn in The Visitor where Ren Krawler tells Jake Vallory, Shun Kazami, and Marucho Marukura that they are the other three "Nethan agents".

In Brawler To Be, he battles an unnamed kid with a Raptorix and wins. Then, Dan Kuso challenges him to a battle which Mason excepts. However Jake Vallory steps in and wants to prove himself despite the crowd boing him. He defeats Jake in a battle while mocking him saying that his loss was a big fail. but in a rematch he loses thanks to Julie Makimoto helping Jake.

In Confrontation, he and Lena Isis battled and lost to two top-ranked players while using their non-Guardian Bakugan to test their strength. The kids were then brought back to the Twelve Orders and hypnotized by Kazarina in order to recruit them. Later Lena asked Mason if Sid and Zenet were ok while in Gundalia with Mason telling her that he is not their baby siter. After the kids all get free, Mason says they are ready now.

In True Colors, After Ren Krawler got exposed as a Gundalian agent he meets up with his team. Mason tells Ren not to blame Jesse for his mistake. Ren tells him that he is the leader of the Gundalian Agents and will report anything to Barodius.

In Hostile Takeover, he faces Dan Kuso and Shun Kazami in a tag brawl with Taylor (a brainwashed kid) after beating her and her parter Casey alongside Sid Arkale. He lost this battle, even after using his Battle Gear.

In Twin Attack Mason appeared in a flashback when Dan reminds Jake that if they beat Lewin Pam and Sein Pam than they will snap out of their hypnosis just like how Taylor returned to normal after him and Taylor were beaten.

Later, he and the rest of Ren's team, save for Sid, are chewed out in The Sacred Orb for their failure to recruit the Battle Brawlers to their side against Neathia.

In Decoy Unit, he reveals his actual form and is given a second chance by Airzel in a battle against Marucho and Jake. He loses round 1, but Airzel manages to beat both Marucho and Jake by himself. The battle ended in a tie after Marucho and Jake fled the battle using Akwimos's last ability, which froze Avior and Strikeflier and distracted the Gundalians.

In The Secret of the Orb, Mason heads off with Kazarina, who was sent off with Nurzak on a reconnaissance mission. However, Mason escapes after striking down two Gundalian guards, to avoid himself from being punished by the Major Twelve Orders just like his fellow agents. He then heads to Neathia possibly to change sides. However, he falls into a large crack in the ground when the Sacred Orb gets "angry" and starts shattering everything. Although Avior saves him from falling, both are sent around the dimensions when the Sacred Orb gave off a massive energy surge.

In Genesis, Mason and Avior are seen stuck in between dimensions along with Nurzak and Sabator. After Dan defeats Dragonoid Colossus, he is brought to Neathia along with Nurzak and joined the Brawlers as they travel to Gundalia to save Jake. He changes back into his human form again.

In Infiltrated, he told the brawlers that he knows Jake is in Kazarina's lab. he, Ren, Nurzak, and Fabia split off from the rest of the Brawlers to rescue his former teammates, Lena, Jesse, and Zenet. Faiba then tells him and Mason that she might not trust them now but is still willing to give them a chance thanks to what Dan told her.

Later in True Evolution he and Ren split off into another group to rescue his teammates while Nurzak and Fabia battled Kazarina and Stoica.

In Redemption, he and Ren reach the lab, only to find that Lena, Jesse, and Zenet have been removed from their stasis tubes. The two of them later meet up with Fabia and she explained what happened.

In Jake's Last Stand, he and Ren learn that Jesse, Lena and Zenet were brainwashed by Kazarina. He then decides to take Fabia and Ren to Nurzaks lair to help look for clues. He tells Ren and Faiba if they want to win the battle then they should follow him. He then shows Fabia and Ren where Nurzak used to live and helped clear it out.

In Final Strike, he showed Shun and Marucho Nurzaks old hideout. he leaves the Brawlers to look for Nurzak, who he still believes is still alive. At the end of the episode, he is seen continuing his search for evidence of Nurzak. He finds Nurzak in Gundalian Showdown, just in time to help Fabia defeat Kazarina by taking out the impalatons alongside Nurzak. Even though he ends up only watching Fabia and Nurzak battle, he continues to observe the battle in Broken Spell. During the Brawl he gets impressed with Aranaut's battle gear level 12 telling Avior to pipe down. The battle ends in Fabia's victory and Kazarina's death by Gill. He seemed surprised by Kazarina's death.

In Code Eve, he, Fabia, and the others rushed to Nurzak's ship to return to Neathia and help the Brawlers fight Barodius. On the way, they are stopped by Gill causing Fabia and Mason to fight him in order to buy Nurzak time to start up the ship. They both retreat causing Gill to follow them. After they return to Neathia, Mason reunites with his teammates causing Lena to feel suprsied. He then tells Jesse that they were never dead. He beats Impalatons alongside Jesse, and Zenet, but loses to Phantom Dharak when they try to attack Barodius.

In Destiny Revealed, he and the rest of the Brawlers who lost are healed by Linehalt's forbidden power. After Dan emerges victorious against Barodius, the Gundalians return to their homeland.

Bakugan: Mechtanium Surge[]

In Battle Lines, Mason made his only appearance in an image, trying to defend Gundalia from the Chaos Bakugan with Avior, Jesse and Plitheon.

Trivia[]

  • Mason shares his surname with Joe Brown though they are not related due to Joe being a Human while Mason is a Gundalian.
    • Mason shares his given name with Mason in Bakugan Dimensions, but the two are entirely different characters and use different elements (Subterra and Ventus).
  • Mason tends to spazz out when things don't go his way (much like Shadow Prove) as he blamed Avior when he lost to Jake and started laughing for no reason when he discovered he was walking in circles.
  • Mason and Nurzak, both of whom are Subterra brawlers, joined the Battle Brawlers in [1].
    • Mason the third Gundalian to join the Battle Brawlers, after Nurzak and Ren.
  • Dan said both Mason and Nurzak were sent between dimensions by Barodius. While this is true for Nurzak, this is not entirely true for Mason, who was accidentally sent by the Orb.
  • It was shown that Mason may like Fabia Sheen, because he was flirting with her when he arrived with Nurzak, and Avior told him, "Quit flirting, we are here to settle a score". Also, he had commented about the level 3 Battle Gear ability she used, prompting Avior to ask that if he was jealous.[2][3]
  • Mason resembles Akira Fudo from Devilman, but they used both their true forms in the anime.
  • Mason's human form seems to be less bulky than his Gundalian form, but when transforming from Gundalian to Human form, his chest and arm muscles get smaller.
  • Mason is the only member of the Gundalian Agents (excluding Ren) to escape punishment from a Major Twelve Order.
  • Although they joined the Neathians near the end of the Neathian-Gundalian War him, Nurzak, Lena, Zenet and Jesse still battle with Gundalian cards. Though this could be because unlike Ren they were never made into official Castle Knight members.
  • In the dub Gus Grav sounds like him at times despite the fact that they have different voice actors. Constituently both were former Subterra antagonists who later joined the Bralwers in the final fight against Barodius and Zenoheld.
  • Mason and Jesse are the only members of the Gundalian agents to have their names changed in the Japanese version as they are named Bruce and Ethan.
