Fourtress, Shadow Attack

Fourtress (Japanese Version: Ashura (アシュラ, Ashura?)) is an Asura-like Bakugan. In the anime, he is the Guardian Bakugan of Chan Lee.

Information

Description

Fourtress has four faces, of which three of them change with different abilities, which are face of rage/phase glare (attack), face of grief/phase breaker (defense), face of joy/phase driver (power up) and enlightenment (enlightenment is never shown as an ability, but is the back face in ball form and is the starting face for when Fourtress appears). He has four swords on his back that he calls his Mighty Blades of Fire, which can shoot flame streams.

Bakugan Official Handbook

How do you defend yourself against a Fourtress attack? It all depends on which one of its three faces you are looking at. Each face gives Fourtress different abilities: sorrow, gentleness, or anger. If this Bakugan is fighting for you, it's sure to lend a hand. It's got four arms!

Bakugan Ultimate Handbook

This tall, muscled Bakugan has four arms and four faces. He uses his arms to wield the multiple weapons strapped to his back. Fourtress' swords can shoot fire at his enemies. As the battle intensifies, Fortress can switch to a new face to match his emotion.

Anime

Bakugan Battle Brawlers

Chan Lee's Guardian Bakugan is Pyrus Fourtress who has beaten many Bakugan to help Chan get the number three spot. He makes his first appearance in The Story of Vestroia, where he faced off against Tentaclear, Cycloid, Harpus, and Sirenoid in a battle royal. He starts off using Face of Rage gaining power though Harpus's feather storm, but then Tentaclear uses Flare Binder trapping him, Cycloid and Harpus. However Klaus von Hertzon tells the group that Sirenoid is hidden in the cards and uses his Anthemusa ability to cause the Bakugan to go to Sirenoid's card. The battle is then interrupted by Masquerade who takes Julio Santana, Chan, Billy Gilbert, Komba O'Charlie, and Klaus to the center of Vestroia where the battlers and their Bakugan are brainwashed by Naga and ordered to get rid of the Battle Brawlers.

He battled Drago in their first encounter but lost when Drago started evolving, he sent Dan's Mantris and Siege to the Doom Dimension.

He then appears in Drago's On Fire battling alongside Sirenoid and Tentaclear against Drago, Tigrerra, and later Preyas but was defeated when Drago evolved yet he managed to send Marucho's Siege to the Doom Dimension. He is then sent to the Doom Dimension after being defeated by Hydranoid. He returns to battle Centorrior and later he is summoned to hold off Silent Naga and defend Wavern. He starts off using face of rage and attacks Naga with fire. Naga blocks the attack using Darkus riot causing him to use Face of Grief to block the Darkus attacks. Naga then mentions how he hates Drama and beats him with his tail whip. After the Bralwers beat Hal-G and Naga he returns to Vestroia and says good bye to Chan.

Bakugan Battle Brawlers: New Vestroia

He returns in Shadow Attack, assisting Alpha Hydranoid in the battle against Hades and his Bakugan Trap, Fortress. He manages to defeat both but is soon taken down along with Alpha Hydranoid by MAC Spider.

Trivia

  • Fourtress has four faces with different emotions, but they don't all have the same voice. (Example: Face of Rage is a deeper voice, Face of Grief is a high-pitched voice, but due to the Face of Joy not being shown, it is unknown what it sounds like).
    • Fourtress' name is a portmanteau of the words "fortress" and "four", the former also being the name of a Bakugan Trap (which Fourtress fought in Shadow Attack) and the latter being the number of faces he has.
    • In Shadow Attack, all four faces had the exact same voice.
  • Fourtress seems to be based the Indian God of creation, Brahma.
  • Fourtress is the only Bakugan besides Skyress the Guardian Bakugan of Shun Kazami to have an exclusive ability that is Japanese-named.
  • Fourtress is one of the 4 non-Aquos Bakugan in the anime who have an animated mouth, the others being Aranaut, Cycloid, and Rabeeder.
    • Furthemore, counting the others, Fourtress is the only non-Aquos/Subterra/Haos Bakugan with an animated mouth.
  • While he is a living and talking Bakugan, Fourtress never directly communicated directly with Chan (nor any other brawler for that matter) and, like Tentaclear, was never shown to move around in his ball form.
